Finding the records that GoldMine can't!
 GoldSearch relies on SquareGiraffe’s unique
FormDesigner technology to help you find records in
GoldMine instantly. Complex searches that are normally
reserved for GoldMine administrators and SQL queries,
are now available to everyone in your business.
GoldSearch achieves this by enabling searching on
multiple fields (from CONTACT1 and CONTACT2) at the
same time. It is therefore possible to quickly find all the
records where the job title is Managing Director, the
business is in the Automotive Sector and is in a particular
geographic area.
Unlike the GoldMine search centre, GoldSearch performs
searches by matching phrases anywhere, not just from
the beginning of the phrase.
Finding the
records that
GoldMine can’t
Another feature is the ability to find records based on a
partial address or telephone number. Searches are
independent of where it is stored – data entered in
primary or additional contact records is found with equal
ease.

Integrated form
designer
- Link any field from CONTACT1 and CONTACT2, and place the search fields in
the designer area
- Through the FormDesigner technology, quickly load different search screen
layouts for different departments or users
- All designed forms are available from an easily accessible drop-down box,
which is always visible
- Flexible licensing options for the FormDesigner, starting with a single form
licence included in GoldSearch. This can be upgraded to the Small Business
FormDesigner licence for up to 5 forms, and a site licence for unlimited forms
Three different
types of searches
- Flexi-Search lets you define the combination of fields in CONTACT1 and
CONTACT2 that you want to perform simultaneous searches on
- Address-Search makes it easy to find main and additional contacts by typing a
single phrase of an address
- Phone-Search makes it easy to find main and additional contacts by typing a
part of a telephone number
- You can set the delay settings to suit your typing speed
Partial matches,
case IN-sensitive
searches
- GoldSearch is indifferent to whether you type uppercase or lowercase
characters – contacts are found with equal ease
- Searches are matched anywhere in the phrase. This is an important
enhancement compared to GoldMine, where searches are “begins with”
searches
- This is handy if you want to check for misspelled names, e.g. the Search
phrase “ggs” will find both the Blaggs and Bloggs contacts
Active Sync
- As you scroll in the grids, the GoldMine record is synchronized
- There is an option to switch ActiveSync off, but you always have the keyboard
shortcut Ctrl-G to take you to GoldMine to view the highlighted contact instantly
Record count
- GoldSearch displays the number of matching records as you type new search
phrases
- This is a very useful feature when refining lists of prospects to call, or simply to
find out how many prospects are in a post code / zip area
Tight integration
with Genesis
- The keyboard shortcut Ctrl-F6 switches between GoldSearch and Genesis,
making it easy to find records
- Genesis and GoldSearch are tightly integrated, so that you always have the
same information on the screen in Genesis, GoldSearch and GoldMine
Keystroke
optimized
- Once you enter search values, you will see matching records displayed in the
grid(s) below. Without leaving the search fields, you can now use the arrow keys
on the keyboard to move up and down in the grid below
- Once the cursor is on the correct record, simply press the key combination Ctrl-G to go to the record in GoldMine
- If you are in the grid and want to get back to the defined search fields area, use
the accelerator key combination Alt-S
Find main and
additional contacts
in one operation
- Find main and additional contacts in a single search operation
- Additional contacts are displayed in a separate grid, with a reference to the main
contact
Search on multiple
fields
- With the designer, you can place any field in the "Defined search fields" box
- Doing this enables you to search on multiple fields at the same time, e.g. find all
the contacts in the Milton Keynes area who are in manufacturing, where John is
the account manager
User definable
result set and
display grid
- Choose the fields to be included in the result set, or use the grid editor to define
the visual display of the result set
- To configure the display grid, right-click and use the graphical column editor to
define fields
- The grid column position and width can be set directly on the grid. These
settings can then be saved to your ini file with a simple right-click
Dynamically
resizing screen
- Flexi-Search has two splitter bars between the three parts of the screen. This
makes it easy to resize the parts of the screen to suit your search needs
- You can hide the additional contacts window, if you need to see more of the
primary contact results window
Practical example
- Use GoldSearch simply to perform a “contains“ type search, which you can only
do in GoldMine by constructing a filter or a query, or use GoldSearch to do a
search for Managing Directors in the automotive industry, assigned to a specific
account manager, and within a specific geographic area
Find records

- Address-Search and Phone-Search look through ALL the address and phone
fields respectively, for main and additional contacts
- Address-Search searches Address1, Address2, Address3, City, State, Zip and
Country. It performs a partial, case-insensitive match, searching all the fields
mentioned above, in main and additional contacts
- Phone-Search searches Phone1, Phone2, Phone3, and Fax. It performs a
partial, case-insensitive match, searching all the fields mentioned above, in
main and additional contacts

- Matching results in the grid contain the main contact and additional contact
records

- Where the search phrase is matched, the particular field is highlighted in red
- This dramatically improves the visual feedback, thereby improving the ability to
quickly scan records to find the contact
Practical examples
- You may know that the address contains the word "Drive" somewhere in the
address, but don't know if it is in address1 or address2 field
- A typical scenario in an office is that someone writes down a partial address or
telephone number, and asks you to call the person. In this case, using Phone-
Search, you can quickly find the relevant contact by typing a partial telephone
number, regardless of which GoldMine phone field the number is stored in
GoldMine – or indeed whether John is a main or additional contact in GoldMine

make use of an efficient library that is common to all
programs. The library files need 7MB hard disk space,
and the GoldSearch program needs 390KB.
- GoldSearch is designed for Windows 95 upwards, and
will run on the specification provided by Microsoft for
each operating system.
