An Alarming Situation:
How to Set an Audible Alarm in ACT! 2005/2006

Silence can be deafening. Believe me I rather like the peace and quiet so much, it did not occur to me for more than a year that the alarms were turned off by default in the release of 2005. You may remember that earlier versions of ACT (6.0 and before) had activity alarm sounds automatically turned on. So now that we’re into 2006 it finally dawns on me that I just might like to try it again.

Get the A-List
ListGrabber by eGrabber

George R., is a commercial real estate broker. Recently George bought out a competitor who was retiring from the business. He paid over a million dollars essentially to get to a list of very deep pocketed contacts. Soon after the deal was signed and the money traded hands George discovered the old man was using an ancient device called a rolodex. George didn’t want to get on his knees and beg his assistant to retype all of the contacts into his ACT! database. He began to consider hiring someone. But even then it would take weeks. George persevered and got lucky. Delving into his files, he uncovered his A-list – a word document, a Christmas card mailing list.
ListGrabber to the rescue. In less than ten minutes George will import the hundreds of addresses into ACT!, and be on his way to making more multi-million dollar deals.

Meet SAM -
Sales Automation Manager by Northwoods Software Corporation

George was ecstatic when he found SAM. Gee, he smiled broadly, thinking, I could kiss this guy. I don’t even have to give this guy a raise! He’s perfect. Plus he doesn’t even need an ego massage. George knows, it’s nearly impossible for him to get his busy sales reps to do follow-up consistently and well. That’s why SAM is now his best friend.

You ask who is this guy SAM? He’s a truly tireless campaign manager and assistant rolled up into one. Ok, it’s really an application designed by the brilliant programmers at Northwoods. more>

Stone Cold Wizard -
Stonefield Query for ACT! by Stonefield Systems Group Inc.

Oh sure ACT! does a wonderful job of lookups and has over forty default reports. If one thing sets George apart, it’s his determination to be on top.  He’s decided the best way to retain control is to analyze his data so he can focus his energies on the most effective aspect of his business.  Plus he’s concluded it will make a great tool for him to monitor his sales staff too.  There’s another benefit.  If he gets reports regularly and in real time, he will have greater assurance in accuracy of the reports.  Why?  Because he would be able to systematically and promptly manage the quality of the underlying data.  more>
